Air force school Jammu, since the commencement, has always paid premium to innovation and technology. Our school boasts of a highly equipped and well-stocked biology laboratory. The idea is to enable hands on learning by the students, “Learning by doing” being the motto of our bio lab. The laboratory provides the students with all sorts of facilities, ranging from specimens to working models. The laboratory is quite spacious and is creatively decorated by the students. We have permanent anatomical slides of plants and animals. The lab consists of simple, compound and projector microscopes for the students to focus and study slides. The ratio of these microscopes per student is fairly high. We have measuring devices, like analytical balance. Also the laboratory has a variety of apparatus for physiological and ecological experiments, like water bath, oven and Digital PH Meter. We have fire extinguishers in case of an emergency. The laboratory is well supplied with chemicals, and equipped abundantly with thermometers and other apparatus for students to carry out their experiments. Through experiments, students are able to gain firsthand knowledge and appreciate various concepts of biology.
Computer labs provide a time and space to develop skills not directly related to classroom curriculum. These skills can be first learned in the lab. Then Room or space equipped with computers devoted to pedagogical use in a school including school libraries. A computer laboratory must be safe from any disruptive, non-pedagogical content; pupils and teachers may need authorized access to credentials. Computer lab is a space where computer services are provided to the Teachers and Students. The computers in computer labs are typically equipped with all essential hardware components and all the required softwares to facilitate language teaching- learning process. This is to give the workstation a similar view to facilitate lecturing or presentations and also to facilitate small group work.The school has two computer labs for Junior and Senior students separately.

Good communication depends upon the language skills one acquires while learning a language. If the four skills of language that are reading, writing, listening and speaking are practiced well. In this regard language laboratories play a vital role. A language laboratory is a dedicated space for foreign language learning where students access audio or audio-visual materials. They allow a teacher to listen to and manage student audio, which is delivered to individual students through headsets or in isolated sound booths. A language laboratory encourages the participation of students. The use of the language lab allows students to have access to the information quickly and easily developing many types of classroom exercises, personalizing the learning process, encouraging creativity, innovation and training
Language laboratories also favor a high degree of skill development, team and collaborative work.Air Force School Jammu has established an English Language Lab with Sanako Software from Finland. We hope our students will definitely benefit from the set up raised for the development of the English Language
Laboratory activities have a distinct and a central role in the science curriculum as a means of making sense of the natural world. The school has well equipped, maintained, instrumented chemistry laboratory to arouse and maintain interest, attitude, satisfaction, open-mindedness and curiosity of the students. To develop creative thinking and problem-solving ability. To promote aspects of scientific thinking and the scientific method. To develop conceptual understanding. To develop practical abilities for example, designing an experiment, recording data and analyzing and interpreting results obtained from conducting an experiment. This helps students to remember the studies in a better way by conducting their own experiments. It gives students first-hand experience and offers better opportunities for learning. A laboratory is not a contest whose object is to get the “right answer”, but the purpose is to learn how to gain knowledge, how to observe and to learn the meaning of what happens.
The objective of Physics Laboratory is to demonstrate the principles of experimental practice in Physics and to show how measurement, experiment design & modern instrumentation can be used most effectively and to encourage the creative use of experimental & theoretical physics in areas which may be unfamiliar. Physics Laboratory exposes the students towards the basic physical measurement & methodologies which though seems to be passive but in the contrast of Laboratory cannot be considered to be passive & isolated subjects of interest; & on the other hand the students have a hand on experience of handling advanced instruments of optics. In Physics Laboratory the students have a full hands on operation of measuring instruments, such as, Vernier Calipers, Screw Gauze, Spherometer, Traveling Microscope are some to mention. The students are also provided with full hands on experiences in optical instruments, such as, Optical benches, Lasers, Spectrometers.
The mathematics laboratory is a place where anybody can experiment and explore patterns and ideas. It is a place where one can find a collection of games, puzzles, and other teaching and learning material. The materials are meant to be used both by the students on their own and with their teacher to explore the world of mathematics, to discover, to learn and to develop an interest in mathematics. The activities create interest among students or in anybody who wants to explore, and test some of their ideas, beliefs about mathematics. The activities in maths lab are intended to give children an experience of doing mathematics and not merely for the purpose of demonstration. It provides an opportunity to students to understand and internalize the basic mathematical concepts through concrete objects and situations. The laboratory allows and encourages the students to think, discuss with each other and the teacher and assimilate the concepts in a more effective manner. It enables the teacher to demonstrate, explain and reinforce abstract mathematical ideas by using concrete objects, models, charts, graphs, pictures, etc.
Environmental studies laboratory is set up with a vision to promote ecological security to restore the ecological balance. It will function as an interdisciplinary learning laboratory that will allow students to do the kind of thinking that problem solving in the real world requires. The laboratory will further inculcate the sense of significance and need for environmental protection and pollution control through various activities, models , film-shows, demonstrations, workshops etc.
Most of the school has sports rooms but AFS has sports lab. This is first of its kind in Jammu so for. No other school has sports lab. In this sports lab we are able to check each and every component of physical fitness .i.e.
1) Strength.(in lab)
2) Endurance (cardio-vascular endurance in lab)
3) Speed (out-door)
4) Flexibility ( in lab)
5) Coordinative ability (in lab)

Sports Bio-Mechanics Resources:
Bio -Mechanics is the science that examines the internal and external forces acting on a human body and effects produced by these forces. It is concerned with the forces which act on a human body. The students learn the basic technique of sports and physical activity. Bio-Mechanics determine how the parts of body moved during the performance of motor skill.
We have Bio-Mechanic tools such as:
1) Weighing machine (Used for measuring weight),
2) Studio meter (Used to measure height),
3) Grip dynamo meter (Used for measuring grip strength),
4) Ergo meter (used for measuring strength endurance)
5) Sit and reach box (measures flexibility)
We also have synthetic basket ball and volleyball court.
We have some equipments such as agility hurdles and resistance band with weights to enhance speed, ground and stopwatch help in checking endurance, ploy- boxes for squat thrust to improve explosive strength and zigzag run test used for develop agility, sit and reach box to measure flexibility and more than 70 yoga mats for yoga exercise to enhance student’s physical fitness.
All these facilities not only provide platforms for students to excel in games and sports but also give them opportunity to feel best of the best sports culture.

Psychology plays an important role in our daily life. It helps to explain why people act the way they do. A psychologist, with his professional insight can help people in improving their decision making, stress management and behaviour based on understanding of their past behaviour. The main aim of a Psychology Lab is to provide facilities for conducting experiments and Psychological tests without which the study of Psychology is incomplete.In our Psychology lab students can conduct experiments related to their course. This lab is also used by School Counselor. It accommodates Psychological Equipments which are used to perform experiments to learn about Psychological phenomenon. Several tests are there to help students get a clear insight of Intelligence, Aptitude, Emotional Intelligence etc. Psychology Lab provides the much needed room for experimentation and testing without which the study of Psychology is incomplete. It enables the students to understand the way of conducting psychological experiments. It accommodates psychological equipments like Muller Lyer apparatus, Memory apparatus. wooden screens. stop watch etc. and conducts tests like interest test, aptitude test, intelligence tests, emotional intelligence test etc. used for assessing different psychological attributes for classes XI and XII. Portraits and details of many prominent psychologists like Freud, Piaget etc are given space in the lab for reference of students. Psychological tests and practical exams are administered and conducted in a student friendly professional environment
School counselor plays a vital role as member of the any educational institution. Air Force school Jammu also second this thought and has a separate well furnished counsellor room in order to provide mental health awareness and counseling services to all the needful members of the school. Counselor help all the students in the areas of academic achievement, career, social and emotional development, ensuring today’s students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. The School Counselor give guidance to individuals and in groups while dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being and help them to define goals, plan action and gain insight. Counselor also encourages students to talk to their parents or guardians about the things that they are worried about. When students do not feel comfortable talking about emotional or social problems at home, school counselor have individual counselling sessions with them. If there is a problem occurring with a group of students, a group counseling session is warranted. Sometimes counselor include the parents in these session for serious issues to provide better help and services.
All the above stated actions are done in private to provide congenial and comfortable environment for free flow of information in the counselor room.
